Fly on the Wall

I have been waiting a long time

For the harsh light

That I like to stare right into

Before I meet hands with my doom

And no one complains 'bout the past time

Like the maven I despise

Who says things like "I wish I weren't here"

Still I would trade lives with my fear

Why are your secrets just things you won't say

To someone apart from yourself?

And why when your freezing your hands start to shake

But when you feel nervous as well?

It's been a long day

As a fly on the wall

Desires that bend like a sharp knife

That I can't pry

Into my heart like a spear

Choose when they'd like to appear

The gaps in your breath last a lifetime

That is over half of mine

But maybe some things stay unclear

Until you wipe all your tears

Do you only dream when you're not wide awake?

And hear things outside of the shell?

Do the truth and the reason needs to relate?

And is failure the neighbor of hell?
