The lobbyists are mustering,

And congress filibustering

Procrastinating, delegating,

Multitudes are suffocating.

And the bullets sing,

“Oh let freedom ring”.

A rerun in the next school,

Dismantle it for minuscule,

Another senseless tragedy,

Is blotted out by apathy.

From the trading floor

They watch their profits soar.

Sing your myths of Laissez Faire,

Close your fists you billionaires.

Hide behind the forefathers,

Close your eyes to our sons and daughters.

As we whisper lullabies,

Jesus Christ, don’t let them die.

Renegades,

We’ll be tearing down your barricades

Hear the riots from your motorcades.

Renegades,

Huddled masses storm your palisades.

Renegades.

Make your fortune while the daylight fades.

The Congressmen are concubines,

For lobbyists who feed them lines,

Who frankenstein some pantomime,

Some crying over Columbine.

Yes your Capital,

It swarms with cannibals.

When some other people’s kids are shot,

They chalk it up as afterthought.

They load their guns and reminisce,

And tell us it’s just business.

They hope we overlook,

The halls at Sandy Hook.

You call the Prince of Peace-

You want His worshipers,

To make your sales increase.

All clothed in righteousness-

You want His followers,

But not the pacifists.

You want your ledgers black-

We want our children back.
