Riding Trail for the CCP

I was riding trail for the C.C.P In Picture Butte where there ain't no Trees And the dry land farmer lives a life of toil Trying to scratch a living from that dusty Soil And the wind blows hard And the mud is deep And life is rough On the C.C.P My partner, Bill comes riding in Says "Trouble's brewing in Iron Springs The church is full of Indians And they're fixing to shoot the Organist So we hit the trail in a cloud of dust The sky was blood-red in the west And those snow-capped Rockies shone clear as a bell From the mud-caked prairie which was hotter than Hell And the wind blows hard And the mud is deep And life is rough On the C.P P Then up comes a Chinook and raises the dust You could hardly see your hand in front of your Face But my partner says "Push On" and I say "OK This business can't wait for another Day So we drove and we drove and we drove some more When suddenly may partner gives a terrible Roar "You crazy Yankee, you're as blind as a bat "You drove us all the way to Medicine Hat And the wind blows hard And the mud is deep And life is rough On the C.P.P
