Girls in sunglasses, lookin' me up like I'm part of some

Game, and well, the altercation happened 'round the tenth of May-ah

Some poorly dressed spectator had somethin' unkind to say, it comes back to me in flashes

I get risky, there's a swing and a miss and I'm all a-

Shamed, and when she found me I's in pieces

Cryin' hard into my hat and she tell me, "Mama, you look lovely when you take a stand"

And I tell her, "No one's ever been so kind to me and I thank you for that"

Took her hair out the bow and laid that ribbon in my

Hand
