Down in the dumps

I went out to fill my cup

I miss the hopelessness

Of having someone to love

Stuck in a rut

I just needed someone to hug

Or anything to trick myself

Of what I've been dreaming of

And I shouldn't have to convince myself

That I'm ok everyday

It gets so tiring

I'll run out of breath

No one told me life was fun

But I thought I'd be the one

So I'll just settle for the simple things I love

Don't think it's fair

I don't know what happened there

Next time I promise that I'll try to be more prepared

Try to make a joke

It lands flat and I almost choke

Everybody wants to make a mark and time only shows

I shouldn't have to convince myself

That I'm okay everyday

It gets so tiring I'll run out of breath

No one told me life was fun

But I just thought I'd be the one
