Daredevil flying above the town

Horizon upside down

I’m skywriting through the clouds

To tell you how I feel

I wrote one love letter to my lady

One more letter than she ever had from me

But bad weather stole a perfect scene

Did she ever get to see?

I was just trying to let her know

In case tomorrow doesn’t show

I’m fighting up against the breeze

It’s clearly not my expertise

But I’m trying to write you a masterpiece

For everyone to see

I wrote two love letters to my babies

Two short letters, only one of them can read

The engine lights on and I’m losing speed

And heading for the trees

I was just trying to let them know

In case tomorrow doesn’t show

Now my wreckage burns the evening heat

I stare up, counting every heartbeat

There’s skywriters above every street

For mile after mile

Some write letters to their sweethearts

Some get angry at what’s tearing them apart

Some draw undisputed works of art

Some scream into the void

I say, hey what’s going on in your head today

You know it’s not my place

And you don’t have to say

But i thought I’d ask, you know

Before I let you go

I said, hey what’s going on in your head today?
