Down and Out

I fell a long way down

From the high horse I was riding

When I hit the ground

I shattered into pieces

This fourteen-dollar bottle

Was three-quarters empty

And the half pack of Lights

Barely made it through the night

And I relapsed again

In a motel in Kentucky

Rock bottom always has a vacant room for me

And tonight you'll find me there

Hanging with my doubt

It ain't hard to be down and out

And the tv in the corner

Was just for decoration

At least I'm not the only one who's broken in the room

I could take too many bars

And walk out there with Jesus

If I could close my eyes, would anybody care
