I am drifting like the flour I'm sifting

I shake through the cold metal holes

With the chemical rise

The bread and butterflies

Float me

Where I don't knead the dough

I'll sleep in a creekbed

With a green mossy bedspread

And laugh at the stars up above

In the dew morning hours l argue at flowers

Sing tenor to the swift Mourning Dove

I go to a place

Where the whole human race is omitted from my conscious mind

Wade my toes through the tidepool

Kick my feet up on a toadstool

Maybe frolic for the rest of my days

Dance through unseen territories

Make up bedtime understories

Track my growth by the magic moon phase

Trees bend to greet me

I wave, then I curtsy

I smile to see my old friends

But when the boughs break

It uproots and rakes

Blows me with the leaves

Back again

I go to a place

Where the whole human race is omitted from my conscious mind

Cut my cranium open

Repair what is broken

I just need a little rewire

Maybe then I won't cry or need the SSRIs
