My thoughts linger on this land

I saw a man come in one time

He shook the hands of his friends
As one by one they turned and walked away
I saw a woman at the door
Her eyes were staring at the floor
She said the words that people use
Are one by one distorted and misused
Now I’ve been told it’s no big deal
Take what’s there or take your leave
My choice is made and I’m quite sure
That I’ll take my chances on another shore
And I could use the peace and quiet
To go through all that has been gathered
Of all the things I’ve kept from home
I’ll chew the fruits and spit out all the stones
