Trying to Write a Song

I've been trying to write a song, but it ain't going well

Every line I think is right, sounds like I'm living in hell

Every rhyme, every reason, every note it all feels wrong

I've been trying, trying to write a song

There's nothing left inside, nothing clever nothing cool

I try and make it up, I try and bend the rule

But I'm blinded by the years spent looking for the light

But there's no refrain when there's no end in sight

And the hardest part's believing every word I'm reading

Written right before my lying eyes

And the truth is I'm dying, and my heart is tired of fighting

And it took me writing it down to realize

That I've been trying to write a song, something bold something real

But there's a shit pile of denial in the way of how I feel
