Mystery Beans

(One two three four!)

Been awake since 4 o'clock

These false alarms have gotta stop

All I need is a lotta caffeine

But I can't find a bean to grind for my coffee machine

I look high

I look low

Everywhere in between

In the very last place I come face to face

With a brown paper bag I've never seen

Fold back the seal and take a deep breath

Smell hellfire and no longer fear death

The back of my neck tells me something's not right

Measure out the beans and give 'em a grind

Now it's time

Water's boiling

Heavy cup in my hand

I just can't say no to this mystery joe

I'm gonna do what the coffee demands

Goo-oo-ood morning, I got electricity to spare

Purple orange sunrise looks mighty fine

When there's somebody there

Coming back

No more coffee

Just a pot to clean

Well I gotta find more, time to go and score

Another bag of mystery beans

Checking all the cafes

From the clean and well-lighted

To the seen better days

Always so excited when I think I find it

But I'm gonna keep trying
