Elusive

You don't tread a heavy footprint

Until alcohol's in movement round our circles

Now this thought comes through, this light is new

Intentions - hard to read

Indications. Pulling teeth

Draw you out with forceps

Car doors to doorsteps

Your face was faded, colours drained

Give me a week and I reach the same

Intoxicated. Breath baited

At our worst and frustrated

I can't stand this interlude

Chasing days catching up to you

Checking on the socials if we're going to run

Into each other for a run-in, running out of

Patience

These nights I keep on wasting

And I'm the one that hastens round, my thoughts unwound

I sat you up, you let me down

Phone calls you won't receive

Forcing words when I'm in grief

Cos I'm a mess for many reasons

Struggling with this particular season

Leave me on read and you send me to blue

And it greys my head already lacking hue

Should intertwine but we can't align

In this state of my design

I can't stand this interlude

Chasing days catching up to you
