To see who has the newest Tesla and the biggest swimming pool

How did anybody ever live before mankind invented swimming pools

And not a community swimming pool but one in my own backyard

Would make swimming more accesible, be less of a burden on the planet

And give us a chance to get together instead of being lonesome

Cooped up in our McMansions

Cause you know a capitalist Christmas

Would be fine

If we had a carbon tax and made polluters pay a price

So Santa and his elves aren't sinking through the ice

Going glub glub glub glub glub glub glub in the Arctic Ocean

If we made money by satisfying actual needs

Instead of manufacturing addictions to

Oxycontin and Netfklix and CocaCola and social media retail therapy

If we paid black people for the labor they did while enslaved

Plus the interest they would have made

If they hadn't been excluded from investing

By decades and decades and decades and decades of redlining

And a capitalist Christmas

Would be fine

If the church I play piano at didn't say a prayer

To be good stewards of the Earth's finite resources

And then drink coffee out of styrofoam cups

After mass every Sunday
