Waiting... for a new road to appear

Fading... into the background of another year

Counting... birds and cups and bills to pay

And I'm wondering if it really matters much these days

But don't you want to hold me as we fall

As we fall

Forever... how long I had hoped to fly

Never... interrogated myself as to why

Searching... for a clever turn of phrase

And I'm wondering if it really matters much these days

But don't you want to hold me as we fall

Time has kept us floating through it all

As we fall

Now don't worry baby

It's all right, for now

Don't worry darling

We'll get it right, somehow

Writing... words that crumble as they fall in line

Fighting... random thoughts of leaving it all behind

Counting... birds and cups and lovers' ways

And I'm wondering if it really matters much these days

These days
