Water's boiling over on the top of the stove

Nobody says a word but everybody knows

He looks down as she walks in

Mama's got her shades on again

I swore the next time that I seen

Mama hiding bruises under long sleeves

I'd take matters into my own hands

She won't do it but I sure can

So I'm waiting patiently

For him to turn that key

And prayed that Jesus would forgive me

Then the light flips, sweat drips

Door swings, shot rings

There ain't no turning back after blood spills

That's the last time she'll cry

I felt a weight lift and just broke down

Mama came running through the smokey air

She just stopped and stared
