I don't need the spotlight, and I don't crave the money

Guess that makes me part of a separate breed

I've already got a good woman, I've drunk my share of whiskey

There's been times both gave up on me

But up there on that stage, one good song is all I need

One good song to raise a ruckus, one good tune to draw a tear

One good line about a brother, one good rhyme to calm a fear

So many times I've fallen short in thought and word and deed

But up there on that stage, one good song is all I need

I've seen this whole country, ridin' on an Electra-Glide

It's a different life, I think we'd all agree

Worked tobacco fields to boardrooms

Still trying to pay it forward, always willing to help someone in need
