Hopeless Romantic

I'm walking back from a friend's apartment on a Tuesday afternoon

And it's quiet and it's gloomy, it's reminding me of you

And I see these strangers holding hands and walking to a bench

And the way he looks at her like he's lost all his defense

And I feel like I should miss you but I know that I just don't

Cause I don't wanna be somebody's just to lose myself, I won't

And I wish that I could tell you when I lost it in my heart

To wanna give you everything until forever falls apart

But I'm not that naive to believe that there's a way

That you'd stay with me forever and everything would be okay

I don't wanna be a hopeless romantic in a panic

Tryna learn someone before I've learned myself through and through

I don't wanna have to go where you wanna go

When I don't know where I would wanna be

if I were without you and you were without me

I don't want making you happy to become my sole identity

I'd rather be out of love and hopeless than to fall for that insanity

I'm waking up on a Tuesday morning just to find it's all a dream

And the image on the bench was just a nightmare lived and seen

Now there's something new that's happening and it can't be denied

And it's got me questioning, it's got me putting pasts aside

As old visions of our failures seem to slowly fade away

Lovestruck strangers on a bench are just a sign for a new day

What if I'm just naive to believe it's all the same

Is it cynical to let one player make me hate the game?

I don't wanna be a hopeless romantic in a panic

Too afraid to jump because one person couldn't break my fall

Maybe I could wanna go where you wanna go

Though I don't know where I would wanna be

cause I don't know you yet and this is new to me

And I know it's all a jumble but what if this could be meant to be

Or am I a fool who falls in love again
