Quietly

Folly can distract from what’s right before your eyes

(So that you cannot see)

And I can’t cite exact place or time when mine began

(To see with clarity)

It hit me with a thump I was punch-drunk

(Moved unsteadily)

Safe within your hold, so emboldened and composed

(Such certainty)

The thrill of attraction proved a distraction

From what was only down the line

The crunch only pending while I was spending

All of my energy and my time

I could not foresee the possibility this was much more than some fleeting state Though I’m not inclined to think planets align

Can’t deny this resembled fate

You raised no noisy rabble crowd No proclamation read aloud

You stuck no flagpole in the ground But you had me from the start

You made no creak upon my stair

No tell-tale sign that you’d been there You so quietly stole my heart

You stole it so quietly

Affection can incite change of ways and one behaves

Acts and undertakings to make things

(Specifically to your tastes)

You’ve anchored in my psyche, it’s likely

(You won’t be shipping out too soon)

Cos I can’t get enough see, you’ve struck me

(With the force of a fired harpoon)
