Late Bloomer

Racing heartbeat, catching breath

"Oh my God that was close!"

The adrenaline ebbs

When it's over, what comes next?

Black and blue, wrapped in gray, but still running,

I'm still running with red

Holding pattern, fallow spell

When it's never again and not yet something else

Holy Spirit?

Phantom limb?

I don't know what it is, but it's moving again!

And it's hope against hope til you can't

Letting go, open hands

Waiting rooms with bated breath

I guess I've always been a late bloomer betting on the slow burn

Here in the dirt, it took a while

But when I felt the light

I had nothing left to lose

When you're buried, it's the perfect time to bloom

If there's a light ahead

I'm moving toward it

I can't go back

I can only move forward

I keep an hourglass

Set on its side

So it's always right now

And I'm always on time
