Birdsong Symphony

I do love to sing

Though some doubt my skills

But so do our friends

With feathers and bills

Yes birds have their songs

For all sorts of reasons

Mating and warning

The changing of seasons

Their singing abounds

From trees and the air

Like natural symphonies

Poems or prayers

If we all listen close

And open our ears

Amazing and wonderous

Things we will hear

Let's begin with the dawn

Because birds of all sizes

Like to start singing

Just as the sun rises

Rooster crows wake us

On farms every day

They're saying good morning'

Let's forage and play

Pigeons and robins

Thrushes and wrens

Join the dawn chorus

So let's listen to them

Then there are flight calls

Of gulls and waxwings

Air traffic control

Is why they like to sing

Gooses they honk

And ducks like to quack

In a comical warning

For all to stay back

Many birds cry

To sound an alarm

When predators near

To keep them from harm

The tinniest sparrow

The sweet chickadee

Don't want to be meals

For raptors you see

Ravens are sneaky

They have 33 calls

That mean different things

Can you tell them all

Mockingbirds imitate

That's one of their charms

Birds, frogs, and people

And some car alarms

Here are some calls

The mockingbird makes

Can you all tell which ones

Are real and which ones are fake

The owls' strange hoot

Is a nocturnal sound

To stake out their space

And find others around

Male nightingales

Like to sing to the moon

To attract female friends

With their beautiful croons

The songs are so pretty

But they say something too

Like I'd make a fine husband

And a good father too

Our avian friends

Are ancient and wise

Evolving from dinosaurs

Now that's a surprise

Birds watch us humans

Like an army of spies

They see all our blunders

Our secrets and lies

Cockatiels and parrots

Can make human speech

So it's now time to learn

What birds can teach

This song's simple moral

Is filled with fine feathers

If birds can find harmony

Why can't we sing together

Humans can talk

But not listen so swell

If we learn from the birds

Can we get along well

There's beauty and magic

In all of these sounds

So let's sing together

Hope peace will be found
