Waking up in a fog, I saw a walk await

Toward a wild waterside and past the garden gate

Beyond the path, where grasses bend to winds and seabirds soar

Footprints intertwining with a breaking wave at shore

See a crystalline sky, slow and endless wide

Fall open to feel suddenly sublime

Whisper to me, ocean blue

Swirling waves, I will speak to you

It seems to me the first day that this blue world did exist

Darkness falls and starlight calls to dreamers draped in mist

The crowd is city-loud, and I drift out of sight

The cloudy sky, a muddled, muddy puddle light

I witness life

I want to be a part of it, but sometimes

And melt into the rhythms of the tide

Allow the flower of your soul to seek a distant sun

Then sit here with me in the dark, devouring borrowed time
