The Librarian

I joined a library coz I wanted to read

I joined the church when I wanted to believe in something

Bought a stop watch when I wanted to run

But I couldn’t fit it in before the day begun

I bought a house and filled it with dreams

And paid a professional to tell me what it means

To be scared of the future my past has created for me

I bought a car and I rolled the roof down

To look at the stars as I drove out of town

I was a maniac, a first class clown

How do I fill my time now I’ve put the bottle down?

I can talk for hours when I’m in the mood

But it only happens every once in a blue moon

So, if you’ve ever seen me light up the room

Just know it was an accident

And it won’t be repeated any time soon

I must confess that nothing has ever moved me like this
