I Choose Me

It’s one of those silly days

When I’d rather stayed in bed

November blues

But I’ve got hundred things to do

So I force myself

My hair so messy

An old blue sweater and a pair of Asics

I’m running late

A bus took off before my face

Hustling for the recognition

Never listening to my intuition

Maybe it’s supposed to be

The day when I choose me

Running errands like a job

A pit stop by a coffee shop

Kids filming their POVs

And my body screams: „No energy“

I hear the voice behind my back

I won’t miss this one with someone else’s

365 chances

Yet today I meet my ex

Yes

Trying to go without getting noticed

While he’s flirting with his new girlfriend

Wish I could rewind this tape

Today I’d rather stayed in bed

Colors fade I’m dragging home

I honed a skill how to ignore

Alarmed signs my body sends

Why I keep on doing it to myself

For sake of feeling whole

But I’ll remind myself tomorrow

That on the days like these

I better choose me
