I Saw You in a Dream

I thought I saw you in a dream

Or somewhere in-between

Just a face upon the screen

And all the places I have been

That are always on my mind

You were never far behind, I don't know why

I saw you in a dream

Or was it just a memory?

And the shapes upon the wall

The things I'd never seen before

And the light around the door

Cutting shards across the floor

I was hoping to unwind something in circles of time

Gradually shading the lines

Of things that are left behind

It seems that most the time

Behind the eyes

The shadows in the night are all I recognise

You realise it happens all the time

I saw you in a dream

And I stayed long enough to see

The place we used to meet

And the fury of the street
