What is life but haunted

By the ghosts of expectation?

Living life in the shadows

Of the past's exaggerations

Of the world and all it's wonders,

We've romanticised,

You left one day in silence;

I barely realised.

Solar winds

or simple chance,

The stars caught in their

cosmic dance

Could've brought us here,

But I couldn't tell.

I saw the Aurora Borealis

And I was underwhelmed

I'm sure the life you wanted

Doesn't match up to ours,

You're busy losing hope

As I'm staring at the stars

And as you told me "It's over",

I was still distracted

By a million constellations

I never even reacted
