Only in Darkness

Another night, another climb

Veils surround this monstrous structure

Black, bare rock underfoot

Rubs, cuts, injures the skin

Up from the lowlands

Ever further towards the peak

However, that spot is not the goal

Roam on

Past dark threatening holes

Whose downwards caves end soon

But to the deeper depths is there to go

Roam on

The heavens pour down

Upon this rugged hillside

An attractant rises from wetted stone

Significant, wild, obvious, different

The murmur of running water

Guides the torchbearer's every move

The body is wearing out

As will and mind improve

A competition against nature and against time

A search for an unknown lithic chasm

Before the flame's extinguished

Extinguished

Every night an ascent

Every night another search

Every night gaping wounds

Every night light dies

Every night ends

Only in darkness

Silent is the storm that's blowing

Towards the torchbearer's face

It dawns at him that on this quest

There's no demand for a blaze

What's to reveal but naked stone?

Another tunnel of this maze

Whereas the flame's extinguished

Extinguished

Every night an unknown cave

Every night a dark descent

Every night a multi-maze

Every night light dies

But the lore is to be found

Only in darkness

Whether upright or crawling

Ahead, onward it goes

Dark gods witness every move

Epiphany grounds are close

Sacred night, a blaze of glory

In darkness prospers the extreme man

An abandoned body utterly shattered

That's how the torchbearer has been lastly seen

Roam on

In this hidden labyrinth

No echo from tunnel walls and ground

This is no place for human beings

Still numerous torches can be found
