I’m on a rebound

And I have been for years

Never made it past feeling 18 to 21

To the rigmarole

To my daily undress

To not feeling something special

Or the one to impress.

I’m in a headspace

That’s daily routine

Close my eyes when I look in the mirror

‘Cause there’s nothing to see

And I could say it’s bad memories

But how could that be?

I think it’s something I forgot

A while ago

Along with everything else.

It hits me like a wave

I feel the drag, I’m going down

And it’s always when I least expect it

That it comes for me now

And I feel naïve that I left it ‘til now

To really look at myself

And ask myself how

I got to here

Now I feel so old

I’ve got mental block again

Some black hole rising

When I thought I was having fun

It hits me like a wave
