Body of Theseus

I lie awake from a slumber

my pulse it takes me asunder

every day’s a stride in the sun

the beating hour rises on.

Take me away from this collar

I feel the dismay rising over

Are we all just on our own

This can’t be all that we’ve become

Fight what is me

and find another

place meant to be

and transfer over

all that I am and all that I see

Will I be the same or will I be another me

Tell me what is left of me

I’m falling and I cannot see

I’m falling asunder

this body in junction

humanities undone

Is there any part that’s left of me

I’m crawling in eternity

Am I an illusion with a harbored soul

Losing mind

Forever in time

 

Or am I still awake?

Or are these memories fake?

I count my heart beats like a ticking bomb,

every breath I take could be the one

Are we a legacy

of what we’re meant to be?

Are we the ones who gained a better slate,

Or are we losing our humanity?
