Where Did I Leave Myself?

I took a trip, I took a flight

I left myself for seven nights

Through the ether, toward the light

I saw such wonders as I flew,

secret truths I never knew

witness to a dazzling view

And now I float back through the door,

my jacket laying on the floor,

my wallet and my keys are there

Right where I left them on the shelf,

But where - where did I leave myself?

I could’ve sworn I sat right here

As the room around me disappeared

My memory’s a bit unclear..

And though I’m not sure where it went

While the astral me made its ascent

I don’t regret the days I spent

Beyond the limits of my mind

Though now I am concerned that too much time

outside one’s body could be harmful to its health

Oh where, where did I leave myself?

It’s just skin and bone

once my consciousness took wing

How far could the thing have wandered on its own?

My poor body all alone!

While I heard celestial bands playing

I’d hate to think It was just down here decaying…

But I’m sure it all will be okay

I’ll find me soon if not today

And who needs organs anyway?

Maybe I’ll head back to the sky

Take just a few more days to fly

And revel in the majesty mere mortals can’t perceive

It’s so easy to leave!
