Banjo, Sophie, and Me

We warmed our hearts around a borrowed campfire 

Never gave a thought to growin' old  

Then Bird fell off his perch and left me Banjo  

And Sophie sorta' snuck in from the cold  

  

Now it's Banjo and Sophie and Me Banjo and Sophie and me  

We ramble round this country, we three Banjo and Sophie and me  

 

Now welcome all ye dogs and all ye people  

And the furry friends we met along the way  

Always together, for ever and ever  

I cherish all their memories today.   

  

Now darlin' little Banjo, he died in the night 

His tail still a waggin', his eyes shinin' bright  

Now he's bound for the land of the four-legged free  

So long Banjo, from Sophie and me  

  

Now Banjo is gone and Sophie's a-waitin'   

And I'm just a few steps behind them I know   

But when my time is come, they'll be no hesitatin' 

I'm a-goin' wherever they go
