Thorns

What once was will remain a fading memory. The gentle kiss of vernal rain brought respite, if only for a moment. The longing of a time now passed, the wistful winds of springtime’s past

Clouds gather and the rain it falls. Beneath the pale gray sky I weep.

Every time I close my eyes, I see your face wrapped in thorns. And I will never breathe again if it means I have to breathe the air you breathe. I wish I had never known you. years pass and your shade remains.

You ask for forgiveness but that time has passed, now sip from the chalice of regret.
