Whitewater

Oh… nostalgia reigns 

Well, the Whitewater wander  

Through the Hoosier hills 

The water rolls right on  

And, the moon rises over the furrowed field 

The sycamore stands in the sun 

 

But, they can’t take me where I would rather be

Well, the Greyhound may bus me over  

The prairie miles 

Endless distances keep running  

Up above me the clouds seem to sail on by 

And, I can’t keep myself from wandering

Well, I spent most of my life running away from the things I’ve needed 

And, I spent most of my time  

Being too proud to pray  

But, now at last, I’m down here on my knees 

And, the neon flashes light the alabaster ruins  

Sending signals out to the blind 

And, the people here, well, they’re always a-movin’ 

Soon I’ll leave them all behind
