Catherine The Great

We don’t see her in the photographs

But I am quite sure she was there

After all, someone’s gotta point the lenses

You know she was the first to volunteer

No one need suffer alone

She made quite sure of that

Sometimes it’s enough just being there

And having her own plan of attack

 

Carrying all the burden, sparing us all the weight

Forever I’ll be certain. And forever I’ll long for Catherine The Great

 

Working three jobs just to turn the wheels,

That would make my blood boil

Our lady never gave it another thought.

She had more than one grandchild to spoil

You know you’re always welcome

There’s room for you, but never for doubt

The tulips stand tall and the stove is warm and

Her house was full of love throughout

 

Carrying all the burden, sparing us all the weight

Forever I’ll be certain. And forever I’ll long for Catherine The Great

 

With no empire to lead, no throne to overthrow,

She made better use of her time

She planted the seeds and allowed them to grow.
