Silent Film

Does life feel like a silent film

Try to write it down with no ink in the quill

You know no one will ever know

The marker snaps and you blend right in

A quiet voice with a roar within

And you know no one will ever know

I recall when I grew up until I was let down

That every year can mean a tearful trip to your hometown

Dig more holes in the ground

Somehow that sets us free

Do you live your life like an acrobat

Reach for the sky but fear the mat

And you know they're here for the show

The tigers roar and you start to slip

A gasp in the crowd as you lose you grip

But you know, it's all for the show

I recall the time when I found strength should make you weak

Taking on the dew of dawn 'til your dam starts to leak

and drips into the creek and rides it out for weeks

til it finds it's way to the sea

Life is quiet like an avalanche

Tears through bark and brick and branch

but you know, it's only snow

Through the chill sunlight that thaws it still

The seeds that spread all along the hill

You know that they will grow

I recall a time when I was so lost that I found

A magic spell I cast out loud to a man up in the clouds

But all I got was doubt, like drowning in a drought

My heart conceded to not believe
