Souvenir

I’m flying home in a month but

I kind I wish I could stay

I wasn’t looking for something

guess I found it, anyway

Feel like a lead in a movie

when I’m crossing the seine

and grab a coffee on the go

next to La Madeleine

I feel guilty and call you

we talk on the phone

avoiding the fact

that I’m thriving on my own

Today I went and bought your

mother a souvenir

while playing with the thought of

maybe just staying here

But I couldn’t do that

could I?

Monday I met a guy and

though we didn’t talk

we still locked eyes across the bar

for a second too long

and it wasn’t the first time

I forgot about you

And I am so sorry

it was only for an hour or two

but I think I loved you a little bit more yesterday

and I’m pretty sure

It’s not supposed to be that way
