The Only Thing Better Than One Lab Is Two

What was going through my head?

When, “Let’s get a dog," I said.

But the moment we saw that golden coat,

Yeah, that was it. He had our vote.

Floppy ears and soulful eyes,

Like he'd already seen a thousand goodbyes.

He leaned in close like he just knew—

We’d already fallen—

And he’d chose us too.

Left muddy prints where we just swept,

He chewed our boots and hogged the bed.

Toys in the kitchen, toys on the chairs,

Drool on the couch and flying through the air.

But every night when the day was through,

He curled up close like he just knew.

We didn’t know what one dog could do,

Until we said—

Let’s make it—two.

Chase came in a year behind,

Took over the house, but Copper didn’t mind.

It’s like they knew right from the start—

Brothers by blood--

And by heart.

But one thing we have to confess…

Double the dogs means triple the mess.

They chewed our rugs and ate our shoes—

(spoken) Thank God they never--touched the booze.

Now there’s fur on the couch, paw prints on the floor,

Tennis balls rollin’ through every door.

Twice the barks when the doorbell rings,

Double the drool on everything.

But every night when the day is through,

They curl up close like they always do.

Life got loud—but it’s sweeter too,

'Cause the only thing better than one Lab… is two.

The house is a mess, there’s hair everywhere,

It’s stinky too, their gas has some flair.

They let it fly without repent—

But the love they give is worth every scent.

They wrestle, they run, they zoom through the day,

Leave a trail of chaos in their Labrador way.

But when the dust settles and the barking is through—

You’ll see your home feels fuller… times two.

And every night when the day is through,

We smile at the mess they got into.

Trust us, friend—it’s honest and true:
