Faces blurred and colors faded

Are they humans or just jaded

Puppets with a hollow staring gaze

Tired eyes and hearts grown colder

Step inside the show grows bolder

Where puppets wear a mask of human grace

Harlequins and sly banditos

Acrobats and lost amigos

Villains with a smile that hides a blade

Wolves and rabbits tigers caged

All by threads are tightly staged

In calloused hands their destinies are laid

But when the master dims the light

Ends the show and ends the night

The moon alone remains to haunt the stage

Strings unbound they fold the cast

Mothballs seal their fate at last

Ragged limbs asleep in wooden cage

Strings are pulled the faces grin

As the jester plays his hymn

A trumpet echo in the silent gloom

Springs a false hallucination
