On the creek bank in the shade

On my hymn book page

I'm a good time with a guitar

A good shot with a gun

And I'm an old schooler

Got some cans in a cooler

On a backroads beer run

And I've got Dixieland beneath my feet

And I was raised up down where roots run deep

And I was born a good 'ol boy

By the grace of the good Lord's hands

Now can I get an amen?

I got a bible on the dresser

A forty-five in the drawer

And if you tread on me, hoss

You best believe you'll know what I got 'em for

It ain't no mystery, I like simplicity

And that's how I spend my days

And my family traditions

Are hunting and fishing

And leaning towards the old ways

Cancelling out some daylight flights in my duck-blind
