No Man's Land

I'm just a son of a son of an immigrant Back in the day just a child so innocent Learning of the way that our people first came on the waves The story always sounds so strange When the first ones arrived in this land Carrying a sword and a flag in their hands Stuck it in the ground Claimed it for the crown Now all the people are wrapped in chains And now the whole world's been claimed And the whole world's been claimed Fences surrounding every inch of ground And it all just seems insane You can keep your flags and keep your deeds Keep your maps and your artificial needs But if you don't want the spark to ignite Acknowledge that land is a human right I will raise my flag with a silent shout I will make no claim on this sacred ground And plant my flag deep within the Earth We surrender to the soil, go back to the dirt To understand This is no man's land This is no man's land As I went walking I saw a sign there And on the sign It said no tresspassing And on the other side It didn't say nothing That side was made for you and me I'm just a son of a son of an immigrant But I see some of the ones that are ignorant Wanna go running for their guns and belligerence But to the land no such thing as legitiment citizens Gate your community Wall up your border Locked opportunity Hide your disorder Build your walls and fence all around We'll just be tearing them down I will raise my flag with a silent shout I will make no claim on this sacred ground And plant my flag deep within the Earth We surrender to the soil, go back to the dirt To understand This is no man's land This is no man's land
