Ruins

Well it's hard for me to say where the pieces fell apart

Long before but I'm sure that I was tattered from the start

I was never held together by this feeble human heart

And so it's hard for me to say where the pieces fell apart

All these ruins just remind me of the fall

That happened long before me

And now I'm waiting like an ancient city wall

For my maker to restore me, still

Into a city on a hill

As a child I understood but it was only from afar

But as I grew closer to you I saw beautiful you are

And I was scared to let you down or disappoint you from the start

Because it's hard for me to say where the pieces fell apart

All these ruins just remind me of the fall

That happened long before me

And now I'm waiting like an ancient city wall

For my maker to restore me, still

Into a city on a hill

But you saw us lift our hands up to the sky

And you sent the one you love from up on high

For our sins, and with our shame we nailed Him there to die

Oh but He rose again to bring us back to life!

All these ruins just remind me of the fall

That happened long before us

And now I'm waiting like an ancient city wall

But I've got my hope in Jesus Christ

To bring these ruins back to life
