Sarah's Tent

I gave up Sarah for Lent

It was a difficult time

But I'm not even Catholic

And she is so divine

So after four hard days

I gave up and I went

Out into the desert

And into Sarah's tent

Her curtains lined with silver

Her bamboo tiled floor

Forty days and nights I spent

With her and her alone

It was a time of healing

It was a time of war

Everything I ever wanted

She gave me so much more

Oh the simple mercy

And oh those perfect hands

Oh the fate that we call fortune

That tortures all my plans

The canvas fly flew open

The sunlight soaring in

An army of brave soldiers

Offered up their sins

I was overtaken

I knew not what it meant

But my time was over
