I’ve been dragging this trunk around for years

Its heavy and feels like dead weight

Every now and then I stop and look inside

It is as if you are before me

Your presence is strong

And with me wherever I go

I rub the imaginary rosary constantly

It slips through fingers like strands of hair

You, on repeat

 I dangle,

like a puppet at the end of your string

at the end of my rope

I am hit suddenly

By the force of it

That you’re really gonna let me go

There were a lot of words both written and unsaid

They mostly flowed from me to you

You kicked my heart lying at your feet

Battered and war torn

And you let it bleed

You played the ostrich in the sand so grand

Never taking flight despite your plumes as you ran

I am a shell, I am shattered

You, are not
