Though the past lies ever trailing

It is never farther than a breath away

The years acquaint as teachers

Passing scholars of wisdom

Each time you withdraw

And thereupon repent, remember

You cannot start a new line

Without lifting pen from page

Hope ignites the flame dormant for too long

Free me from affliction so I can move on

Mental confines of uncertainty

Fall in the face of awakening

As a new wall lay before me

I look back on how far I've come

Reflecting from a new perspective

Who I was and who I am

The years are mentors, passing by me

Lessons learned from things I've done

I am the storm now, I am the tide

I know myself and that's enough

Down in the void

I was blind to the world

But now I'm free
