I wanted to paint those lines

Now I try to say them

I thought I could write those songs

And I even try to sing them

I wanted to draw from those times

Now I work hard to forget them

Why go through all the effort

Too much detail in my head

If you ask me it’s no bother

What else would I do instead

I tried not to pull from those times

There’s no way to forget them

But the sun still comes up

Always without warning

Late at night the moon is waxing

Somewhere just before the rising

Now I just paint around them

Colors bleed across the canvas

Why doesn’t it come together
