I rode my motorbike

Out to el Matador Beach

To see if the memories

Could shake me

From a long malaise

And though half of the time

I would stand out there

Lost and alone

Feeling owed something

I was not given

Now I remember it warm

Strange how the heart

Shapes its story

I remember I missed you that night

Afer a call from back home

Michelle almost died

But chose living

At dusk I walked in the pink

And looped Ambulance Blues

Until the batteries died

Oh how I loved that beach

So out of reach

Before it went

And got trampled to hell

Like everything else

Now just a backdrop

For a portrait

And now in song

Final nail in the coffin

Now I must get on

Not anger for what’s gone
