Hope & Sorrow

Your water moves, it ebbs and flows It burns like fire in my soul It shakes in ways I can't control And can't even explain The love of God is deep and wide The heart of God - beauty defined The love of man's a fickle tide Why do you love us so? Oh, my word How bittersweet this life With hope and sorrow Intertwined I wish I knew my father well Maybe one day we'll sit a spell Stare deep into that holy well Of eyes so blue and gray Your demons are the same as mine. And in choosing words you take your time You are a poem that doesn't rhyme It is beautiful that way My brother is a lonesome man On whom the shadows did descend But I will be your Samaritan Oh I would walk through fire for you The sky may fall, the earth may quake The rafters and the walls may shake But it's the little things which separate A brother from his own
