I was thinking back to when I was younger

Long hair, restless summer, I was somewhere in the middle of nowhere

I learned to put on a face just to have friends

Perpetually wanting something more than myself, more than I was

When I was younger

Wished I was older

Wished I was taller, my whole life felt so much smaller

Now that I'm older

World off my shoulder, save all your pennies and wells

I wouldn't change anything

I wish I could go back just to tell her

"It all will work out, you're not gonna feel this way, not forever"

And you'll lie awake in tears till the morning

You're not gonna know everything when you're fourteen

You don't even know at twenty-five

And that's alright
