Runner's High

I feel stuck

I stand in cement

What I am worth if my hands aren’t busy workin’?

I’m high strung

So I break, don’t bend

Feel the most short of breath when I’m not movin’

I’ve stood still for too long, I

Waited till I can’t stand anymore

Run down the hill

Where it’s faster

I never trip, move quick, till I hit nirvana

All this time I was a runner

Searchin’ for that runner’s high

Weight of the world

Is heavy on my chest

Dreamin’ of stamina to get me through the rest

Hands up, put ‘em over my head

I heard it helps at least to catch my breath

And why am I racin’?

In the first place

I can’t win the gold, I let it go

It’s only me I’m chasin’

Down hill

Where it’s faster, I

Don’t trip, move quick, till I hit nirvana

And all this time I was a runner

Searchin’ for that runner’s high

And sometimes it’s slow

At least I try

Can’t win ‘em all

But at least I might

And sometimes I’m broke

And broken gets by

Know when I’m low

Everything feels high
