In the Absence of Light

The value of life buried deep inside my spiritual abyss

Long forgotten memories of light suppressed by eternal darkness

Dreary and moribund

I take a glimpse at the world

Fearing the night engulfs

Us in the abyss

The loss of the sun

The end of all life

My soul is left behind

In the absence of light

A descending mist of nostalgia saturated my mind

I see myself in the mirror but I look straight through

I can’t breathe

I can’t see

Like the world around me I start to freeze

The darkness of my ambit pervades my soul

Like the world around me I stop to breathe

And let obscurity take over me

Inexorable cold

Corroding me inside

Turning my blood to ice

Infiltrating my soul

The loss of the sun

The end of all life

I am left behind

In the absence of light

The darkness drained my will to live

All that is left in me is bleak

I can’t find a way out alive

So I just give in to my fate

There’s nothing left worth fighting for

So now my life is at its end

Maybe the world will carry on

But I will never see the dawn again
