Trees in gowns of green

The colour of the heart's bounty

Always giving lee

A shelter for birds

when its windy

Some are royalty

Rising high on a hilltop in majesty

Old oaks gently hold a young girl on a swing

Newsprung birches proudly sway their branches while they sing

I really don’t know why I’ve always longed for the big vast sky

The world is spinning faster and faster

We’re still in the same place years after

Changing without moving

Following the seasons

Slowly we grow

Tall and slender beech

Soft as velvet are her leaves

Others are really shy

A landing place for when fierce wasps stop by

Weeping ash is down

Because she steals the light from a small scrub in brown

Crooked willows bending for each winter storm

Giant woods of pine in every pointy shape and form

I really dont know why I’ve always wished to be the bird crossing the sky

Home for nesting thrush

Never really in a rush

Always so reliable

The foot is on the ground

Thorn with red berries

Tulle and cherry blossom

Princess Japanese

Maple make a big umbrella when it rains

Or a roof for woodpeckers and lover’s shady lanes
